Today, Andrew Western MP hosted his final constituency coffee morning of the year. Despite bad weather and unusually heavy traffic, the event was hailed a success, as many constituents still managed to make it down to say hello.

Before the event, Andrew had written to constituents, inviting them to the coffee morning, which was held at thank Christ Church Davyhulme. He explained that he’d like to wish as many constituents as possible ‘a very Merry Christmas’ in person.

Labour Party members were also invited to attend the event, and an open invite was made on Andrew’s social media channels – urging members of the public to attend.

As we are currently in the grips of a cost-of-living crisis and the festive period is a tough time for many in Stretford and Urmston, Andrew explained that he’d be doing a collection for the local foodbank during the coffee morning.

Despite the weather and unusually heavy traffic, plenty of people came to say hello and some future meetings have been booked in with constituents that needed longer with Andrew to discuss their current issues.

Andrew Western said: “It was lovely to see so many friendly faces and to chat to people about their concerns. People were very generous, and the kind food donations will be dropped off at the foodbank over the coming days.

“Thank you to everybody that made it down. I’d also like to thank Christ Church Davyhulme for allowing me the space to host my coffee morning.”
