Trafford FC takes on Widnes FC.

Andrew Western visited Trafford FC in Flixton to celebrate the club’s ‘Pitching In’ volunteer day. He met staff and volunteers ahead of their match (against Widnes FC) and had the opportunity to volunteer himself.

During his visit, Andrew heard about the current volunteer opportunities available at Trafford FC and how they promote existing vacancies within the community. He also gave the ‘Player of the Month’ his award.

Andrew said: “Trafford FC is our local non-league team, and a place where I spent many happy Saturday afternoons in my 20’s. I’m not able to get down to Pennybridge Lane so easily these days, but it was pleasure to go along, meet the volunteers who keep the club going, and to give out the November ‘Player of the Month’ award.

“I stayed to watch the game afterwards. Trafford FC battled against Widnes to secure an injury-time goal, which resulted in a draw.”

‘Pitching In’ is an investment programme, which is partnered with Trident League football clubs – including Trafford FC. As well as sponsoring the Trident Leagues, ‘Pitching In’ takes an active role in helping clubs to recruit volunteers through the ‘Pitching In’ Volunteer Hub. This Hub enables clubs to post volunteering vacancies. Fans are able to search for available opportunities either at a specific club, or based on their location.

Without the help of volunteers, clubs like Trafford FC couldn’t function and the Volunteer Hub is an invaluable way of connecting prospective volunteers with the Trafford FC team.

Whilst at Pennybridge Lane, Andrew also had the opportunity to man the turnstiles and to read a matchday announcement.

If you’re interested in volunteering at Trafford FC, you can search for opportunities on the ‘Pitching In’ Volunteer Hub.
