Andrew goes to see The Kathleen Project at Stitched Up in Stretford.

On Sunday, Andrew Western (the MP for Stretford and Urmston) was invited to a preview of The Kathleen Project, at Stitched Up in Stretford Mall.

This exhibition, which was partly funded by Historic England, explores the history of the garment trade in Greater Manchester. It features personal stories from local workers, as told by the people who lived it.

Andrew Western said: “Attending a preview of the Stitched Up exhibition in Stretford Mall was the highlight of my week.

“This is an oral history project that tells the story of the history of the garment trade in Greater Manchester. I popped in with Cllr Aidan Williams and it was fascinating to hear the testimony of those who worked in local factories. The exhibition is open to the public from Wednesday and I would really recommending dropping in if you are able!”

The exhibition is open from 12pm-4pm, until Sunday 17 September. It is free to attend, and you don’t need to book a ticket.
