Trafford Fostering was involved in a takeover of Stretford Parkrun today, in order to mark Foster Care Fortnight. To coincide with this, local MP, Andrew Western, was asked to go along to event to start the race.

Foster Care Fortnight is an annual campaign that aims to raise the profile of fostering and show how foster care can transform lives. Each year, the campaign has a specific theme and this year’s theme is ‘Fostering Communities’, so Trafford Fostering thought that Stretford Parkrun was a great place to spread the message.

Andrew Western said: “The best moment of my week though was without question starting the Stretford Parkrun at Longford Park on Saturday morning. There were several hundred runners taking part and it was great to see so many people enjoying themselves in such lovely weather.

“The reason I was starting the race on Saturday was to help promote Foster Care Fortnight and the event was marshalled and supported by some of Trafford’s amazing foster carers. They do such amazing work supporting young people in the constituency and across Trafford and if you’ve ever thought fostering may be for you, do get in touch and I will link you in with the Council’s fostering team!”
