Faizan E Islam, in Old Trafford, is inviting all members of the local community to join them for Iftar this year. Andrew Western, the MP for Stretford and Urmston, visited Faizan E Islam, as they began celebrating Ramadan.

Thursday 24 March was the start of the holy month of Ramadan, when Muslims fast from sunrise to sunset. Iftar meals are eaten to break fasts during Ramadan.

Faizan E Islam has generously decided to open their doors to the community for Iftar. It will be available on the following dates:

• 7:15pm on 30 March
• 7:15pm on 31 March
• 7:15pm on 4 April
• 7:15pm on 7 April
• 7:15pm on 11 April (includes a special interfaith programme)
• 8pm on 18 April

Andrew Western said: “It was also brilliant to attend Faizan e Islam mosque on Ayres Road to promote the Iftar meals they are sharing with the community.

“The meal to break fast is known as the Iftar and Faizan e Islam are inviting all members of the local community to join them this year. They had me in a chef’s hat stirring the curry pot to promote the event and it’s wonderful to see such outreach work promoting community cohesion.”
