Andrew Western MP for Stretford and Urmston
Pupils from Flixton Girls School visited Westminster today. During their trip, they had a tour of the Palace of Westminster and a meeting with their local MP – Andrew Western.
The group, which consisted of KS4 and KS5 students, went on a ‘Story of Parliament’ tour. This started with a 15-minute film at the Education Centre, followed by a tour of the Palace of Westminster, where they learnt about the history of Parliament and the role of democracy in the UK.
After the tour, pupils sat in on a workshop tailored to A Level Politics and A Level History students. Pupils then met up with Stretford and Urmston MP, Andrew Western, for a question and answer session.
Andrew Western said: “I was delighted to welcome a group from Flixton Girls School to Parliament. They enjoyed a tour of the Houses of Parliament, after which I met them for a Q&A session in one of the House’s committee rooms.
“It was lovely to see them all in London, but there were certainly some challenging questions for me!”
