Education was the subject of the week for Andrew Western – both in Westminster and back home in Stretford and Urmston.

On Wednesday, after PMQs, Andrew caught up with James Scott, the Principal of Trafford College. James was in Parliament to lobby for more investment in further education and skills training.

Andrew Western said: “The education chat I had with James set the tone for much of my Friday in the constituency, as I visited both Stretford Grammar and Kings Road Primary School.”

At Stretford Grammar, Andrew sat in on presentations from Year 9 students about mental health and wellbeing. During these presentations, students discussed ways that they can support themselves and others to boost their wellbeing.

After the Stretford Grammar visit, Andrew called in at Kings Road Primary School. There, he did a tour of the school with the headteacher, Darren Morgan. During the tour, Andrew spoke to pupils about all sorts of things, ranging from where they had been on holiday, to the one change they’d make to the world if they were able to.

Andrew Western said: “Both school visits were lovely and I am looking forward to visiting other local schools in the near future.”
